"Bhai , would you like to come over for a movie ?" asked Sanjay .
"WHAAAT?! I cant really hear you! speak loudly!" was the reply.
And so Sanjay repeated his question in a louder sharper voice. This time the question seemed to register in Abhinav's mind. He thought a bit , for two seconds and then inquired of Sanjay as to which movie was he planning to watch. He again couldn't hear much , but he agreed to come over just because he was very , very bored in his house. He put down the receiver of his phone , muttering a word or two cursing the poor quality of his telephone service. Now he stood in his room . A very ordinary room , really. With white mundane walls , with a bit of fancy ceiling made of POP. He had a study table and a computer table. There was also a poster of considerable size of a deity , which you often find in various homes , in India. One side of his room had windows and it was covered with curtains. There were two doors , one which led outside to the balcony and the other one , obviously to the lobby. Had it been a normal day , our friend would have gone out in the balcony , and relish the freshness of air , but sadly for him , the heat outside might have caused him to relish a heat-stroke instead. He opened the door and then climbed down the stairs. The door shut behind him.
He reached into the dining space and had a look at the clock . It was 4:00 PM . He was reluctant to go out into the sun , but then he thought at least some of his time will pass. He opened the door of a bedroom , where his mother was and informed her that he was going to his friend's . he told her that he was going there to watch a movie and his mother just told him to return early , and not be too late . He shook his head in agreement and walked outside.
No sooner had he opened the front door , than his eyes suddenly closed , it was too bright outside , but he anyway went out , went out onto the road , and started walking towards his friend's house , he tried hard not to fall down and succumb to the scorching heat , until he reaches Sanjay's house.
"Ding-dong" rang the bell , and Sanjay opened it . There Abhinav was standing. "Water" was all he said , and he walked in his house. Sanjay's house was a cozy one , with thick curtains to block out all the sunlight it was considerably pleasant in his house.
Although it was just a 5 to 10 min walk from his house to Sanjay's he was quite exhausted. After having a glass of cold water Abhinav felt a bit relaxed.
Then both our friends had some general conversation. They talked as to how they will prepare for 11th , 12th and then for their later competitive Exams and SAT and ACT etc. after a while they realized that maybe its worthless to talk about it with half information. They just decided that it will be better if they just watched a movie instead.
Seemed that they both could not reach to a decision so they just decided to watch random episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S instead. After watching it for a couple of hours , and having some Sandwich and cold drink , Abhinav decided that its time to go now...
It was already about 6:30 now and Abhinav was just tying up his shoe laces , when he got up he accidentally kicked off Sanjay slipper further towards the door. In order to bring it back into the position , Abhinav kicked it back , but only this time , the slipper landed in , what we would call an upside down position. Seeing this Sanjay got kind of upset , and said to Abhinav , "Dude you must put the slipper back properly , if it remains in this position , there will be a fight in my house!" .
Now this kind of stuff was what always bothered him. Stupid logics , and superstitions was what irritated him the most . He then questioned Sanjay as to how is a stupid slipper capable of disturbing the peace and sanctity of his home. Even Sanjay was incited now. He started arguing , giving instances where he saw that the fight actually broke out , when the slipper was left turned. Abhinav got furious and irritated by his stupid stories , he just said in a loud voice "What the hell man!" and then he just picked up the slipper and arranged it neatly by the other one , just as Monica would have.
Then he went out , and started walking towards his home. He started thinking , about the slipper , and how it did actually led both the friends to argue , and "almost" fight. He just muttered under his breath : "interesting".......
