A strange incident

I opened my eyes and stared into the void above while I thought whether to go on a morning walk or just keep lying. I looked at my watch. In the darkness of enclosed bedroom i could barely see what time it was but still the fluorescent green dial did make it easier. It was 5 o'clock. I observed my bedside, there was no one. That meant my cousin was up already.

Then I decided to go for that walk. I was at my uncle's place to spend my holidays with my brother. We always used to go for morning walk. It was the best way to start a day. I abruptly sat up and stayed in that position for a while.

I stood up and walked towards the bathroom. I saw outside my window. I could not see the sun but there was enough light. Like normal sunrise but it seemed a little different. I began to brush my teeth. My uncle then observed me and gave a weird expression.

      After a moment, he said, "Why are you brushing your teeth?".

      Now I was the one giving weird expression and said, "Why not?"

Silence.

Then his eyes widened and he nodded, saying, "Good! Very Good. I like that. Always, before doing something, don't ask yourself 'why?' but ask yourself 'why not?' because if you ask 'why?' then if you ask yourself why  'why?', you will have no answer so you will have no reason to use it; but if you ask 'why not?' and then you ask yourself why not? 'why not?' Then you will have no reason not to use it."

Then he left . Wow,I thought,What was THAT!?!

      Then I went to drawing room and saw that my brother was watching television. I knew he watched television a lot but it was way too early for him too.

      "Hey get ready fast, we have to go to grandma's place.",said my brother.

      "Now?",I said.

      Then he answered "Yes , I know. We will not be able to play."

 Then I thought What exactly is he talking about ? We do not play in the morning ,we go for a walk.We play cricket in the evening.Does he consider walking as playing something?Anyways when I asked "Now?" it was implied that it was too early.

      Then we exchanged weird looks and i finally said  "OK, i am going to take a bath"
Then something even weird happened.

My brother asked,"Why?"

      "Why?! Do you not bathe in summers.You know most people bathe twice in summers. Don't you bathe before going to some other place to visit?"

      Then he shook his head and said in a low voice "No. Are you alright?"
   
      Then my uncle came in .He said,"Get ready we are leaving in ten minutes."

      There was no time to bathe ,so i got dressed up anyway.

      When we got out of the house and I was about to enter the car I noticed that atmosphere was warmer than usual morning and i checked my watch it was 5:45. I still could not believe we were going to grandma's place at this hour.

      As we were travelling I noticed something.Something very very unusual. Ahead of us was a traffic jam. I turned to my uncle and asked,"Why is there such a long traffic jam?"

      "Because most people drive home from their offices in the evening."

      Evening!, then I recalled we were watching that boring documentary this noon and I fell asleep. I must have slept for five hours straight and my mind being so accustomed to following same routine made me think it was morning.
 

      There is a hindi saying, Jab jaago tabhi savera meaning "The morning is when you wake up"  or something like that but it came out to be literally correct for me.
